Our cottages are charming, cosy and well equipped; located on a small and very tranquil, privately owned development of only 13 similar properties set within 3.5 acres. We are on the outskirts of the pretty village of Highampton amidst West Devon's stunning rolling countryside. You’ll find us in the heart of the beautiful Tarka Valley, between Bude and Dartmoor. A perfect spot for truly getting away from it all; for unwinding and relaxing while being ideally positioned as a base for days out exploring all the incredible countryside and beaches of Devon and Cornwall and being in easy reach of a fantastic range of activities to suit every member of the family!
From our little estate, you will have direct access to the Ruby Way - a wonderful trail through the countryside, ideal for walking or cycling, acting as a loop for the famous Tarka Trail.
You won’t find discos, bars and ”entertainment” on our site, but you will find total peace and tranquility; the sound of birdsong and the odd distant farm animal. You’ll discover a picnic area and a children's' play area overlooking a well stocked fishing lake. Fishing on-site is FREE to all guests. You might also enjoy our heated indoor swimming pool available only for guests staying on the site so it’s rarely even slightly busy. (Please note, the pool is currently closed for refurbishment and due to reopen in May. We are also planning a further closure in November 2024 for the replacement of the pool liner - do get in touch for further details).
We’re in a protected Dark Sky area just outside Dartmoor; at night the stars are unbelievable - sit outside on your little enclosed private decking and stargaze, accompanied only by the sounds of owls and possibly the occasional rumble of a nearby sheep.
It’s a brilliant location for getting out and exploring most of Devon and Cornwall, we’re about 25 minutes from the north cost and Bude beach which is dog friendly all year round and has an extraordinary Sea Swimming Pool.
Walking distance to a private super friendly Gin distillery on a local farm where you can book the bar and sample their amazing gin looking out over endless fields of sheep. They even offer Experiences where you can meet the sheep and they’ll be delighted to tell you how the gin is made.
Our rates do reflect small seasonal adjustments, but having young children ourselves we feel very strongly about NOT hugely hiking our costs during school holidays which hopefully you will appreciate!
We are also currently offering discounted rates to Registered Childminders and to those working as Paramedics, Ambulance Crew and other first responders, in order to reflect our huge thanks for the incredibly tough, important jobs they do.
